The same $1.50 rate is posted for all eight country pages found (US, Japan, Italy, Denmark, Mexico, Turkey, South Africa, Thailand), so treat them as one programme priced globally in USD. The same $1.50 per accepted photo is posted for Japan, Italy, Denmark, Mexico, Turkey, South Africa, Thailand (read 2026-10-14); counted once here because it is one programme at one rate.

Why labs pay for it

Image models were trained on scraped pictures and are being sued for it. Libraries with a clear owner, releases and good descriptions are the lawful replacement.

FallingThe first modality with a price list, and the first to cool: the largest stock agency's data revenue fell to $56.1 million in the second quarter of 2026, from $67.2 million a year earlier, and new deals favour display rights over training.

Who holds it
  • Photographers and agencies
  • Stock libraries
  • Brands and publishers
  • Archives and museums
What it looks like
  • A professional's full archive with captions
  • Product, architecture or specialist photography
  • Illustration and design libraries
  • Historical collections
Raises the price
  • Captions, keywords and metadata on every image
  • Releases for people and property
  • A specialist subject that stock libraries lack
Lowers it
  • Everyday snapshots, which are abundant
  • Recognisable people without releases
  • Images already on the open web
The rights question

You must own the copyright, and identifiable people and private property need releases for this use.

How we take it to buyers

Bulk libraries are best listed on the image marketplaces, which we name. We take on specialist libraries where competing buyers are likely.

Who buys it

Troveo

"AI labs and startups are actively paying six figures for company data exports", and Troveo pays the holder "on every sale, not just the first".

Protege

A revenue share per deal, by the agreed partnership terms.

Defined.ai

No rate card. It states "$600K+ average partner revenue" and "$1M+" for five or more partners.

Sieve

Pays after delivery is checked ("Sieve Checks them, then pays"); recording is paid per hour and no rate is published.

Wirestock

Paid per approved asset on projects; in dataset deals, by each creator's share of the pool.

Kled

Publishes nothing about price.

Datarade

The seller sets the price. Datarade takes 30% commission, or 20% to 15% on a paid plan of $6,000 to $12,000 a year.

FileYield

No figures. It charges sellers 8% and buyers 6% commission.
