What Protege's contract says
The clauses Protege publishes for the people it buys data from, in its own words, the costliest first. “Our reading” is ours, not Protege's. These terms change: read the page itself before you sign.
Exclusivity
In its own case study Protege held exclusive AI-training rights to a partner's catalogue, so buyers could not negotiate with anyone else.
“by maintaining exclusive AI training rights for the broadcaster's catalog, Protege was able to ensure that it could maximize the price because AI buyers were not able to negotiate with multiple parties”
Our reading: If Protege takes exclusivity, only Protege can sell your data while it lasts.
withprotege.ai, read 11 Oct 2026When you are paid
A revenue share when developers license your data; the percentage is not published.
“When developers license your data, revenue is shared with you according to the agreed partnership terms.”
Our reading: You are paid only when Protege makes a sale.
withprotege.ai, read 11 Oct 2026Licence and use
You keep ownership and license limited rights for defined AI-training purposes.
“Yes. Partners always retain ownership. You are licensing limited rights for defined AI training purposes. You are not selling or transferring intellectual property ownership of your content.”
Our reading: A limited licence, which protects you if the purposes are named in the contract.
withprotege.ai, read 11 Oct 2026Who removes personal data
Protege prepares datasets with the partner, including de-identification and certification.
“First, we work with partners to prepare datasets appropriately before sharing, including de-identification, certification, and tokenization.”
Our reading: Prepared with you and certified, which is the shape regulators accept.

Small trade blog; it does not say whether this is the buyer price or the share reaching rights holders.
